Waterview Hideaway
Big Bear, California
Big Bear is a wonderful place to vacation, especially
in the winter when snow covers the ground. Up
here any hint of cold is reason to get the fireplace
crackling. It's not a rich town by any means. Much
of the buildings are weathering which can add to
their character or be a turn-off. To make matters
worse some of these old cabins and houses have
been thrown together with country clutter and
crafts which just isn't my thing. I don't think it's
quaint or cute, leaving it difficult to find places to
stay up here that suites my taste. I'm sorry to be
picky, but I don't want anything that distracts from
the beautiful views. With that said, I was tickled
beyond belief when we had the great fortune to
stay at the Waterview Hideaway. This place is like
nothing else I've seen up here!

First of all the wood throughout is to be admired.
The kitchen was one of my favorite rooms with
forest views and much of nature brought inside with
knotty cabinets and natural stone flooring. My
other favorite was the spacious master bedroom.
Who couldn't unwind in this room! The bed sat
alone in a vast open space with the drawers and
cabinets cleverly built into cedar walls.

There is plenty of sleeping space at the Waterview
Hideaway with a guest bedroom downstairs with
it's own bathroom and a bed big enough for two. An
even bigger guestroom is upstairs just across the
hall from the master bedroom which has two twin
beds, a double bed and a trundle underneath and so
much floor space for sleeping bags.

The living room has a rock fireplace, cable
television and a view of the trees past the deck.
It's only a peak-a-boo view of the lake, but
certainly a nice walk.

It's quiet and restfull here at the Waterview
Hideaway a perfect place to retreat or get
romantic. As for myself I hate to see all this great
living space go waste, joining up with another
family would be ideal or having an intimate
Thanksgiving or family get together. It's a real
charmer!
