Tom's Farms
So often I think how nice it would be to have a picnic. It
always seems to be a hassle, planning food that tastes
good cold or trying to get hot food there and eating it
while it's still warm. And by the time you transport
everything it isn't that relaxing thing that it was
intended to be. We love Tom's Farms for picnicking.
There is a neat little grocery store with imported
cheeses, dips, a variety of smoked fish, cold cuts,
condiments, crackers and chips, fresh baked breads,
pastries and cookies. This is where we discovered
shrimp chips, these are so addicting, we buy up every
bag when we come and hand them out to all are Shrimp
Chip addicted friends. They also have an extensive
collection of imported and domestic beers from all over
the world. Also in the market is a bar where they offer
wine tastings of the wines they sell. There is even a
pizza counter to order a fresh pizza to take out on your
picnic. Then it's across the parking lot to another
market that sells fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh
squeezed juices, nuts and hard to find candy, and their
homemade guacamole, oh this is so good. They offer
small containers of fresh minced jalapeno peppers to
spice up their guacamole to your own taste. They also
sell corn on the cob on a stick outside the store to dress
up with cheeses and spices. They have everything you
need to put together your own picnic, all you bring is
your blanket. While picnicking you can sit by the pond
and listen to the weekend band who play songs from
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Creedence Clearwater
Revival. If you forget your blanket then sit at a picnic
table or go eat indoors or on the patio overlooking the
pond at their little cafe. The kids can go check out the
small zoo or get their faces painted. After lunch take a
stroll through their large country store that sells
everything from furniture to candles. We gotta avoid
that store, we've bought two sofas sets there so far,
great prices! They even have an exotic bird store. This
place is a fun place for two or a great place to picnic for
the whole family.
