Sheraton
San Francisco, California
Our room #4008
The Sheraton is a favorite for business travelers and
vacationers alike. The moment you arrive uniformed valet and
bell men quickly tend to the moment while the reception staff
make check-in as painless as possible. This particular location
at Fisherman's Wharf wasn't quite as close to Pier 39 as I'd
hoped, just a street away, but we were happy with our
accommodations nevertheless. Our room lent a nautical feel
with hues of blues. Our room #4008 was to have two queen
beds, but ours were too small to be queens, making sharing
one quite cramped. Too bad, because the Sweet Sleeper
mattresses, crisp linens and soft duvet were so luxurious.
Though our slanted windows were architecturally pleasing the
view into the courtyard was intrusive even voyeuristic with
other's beds too close for comfort. We had to leave our blinds
shut for our own privacy. I was astounded at the extra fees
that one can easily incur here. Our April room rate was
reasonable at $169 which included tax and can get as high as
$229 in the early summer to October months. Parking fees
were astronomical at $35 a night. When I discovered that our
room wasn't one that was furnished with the refrigerator I was
told the rooms had, I called the front desk, hoping it could
easily be remedied. I was informed that "most" of the rooms
have refrigerators, but ours did not. I was then referred to
housekeeping finally to be told we could have one brought up
to our room at $25 a night! Don't get me wrong this hotel is
lovely, with a pool, fitness center, their Compass Grill and
lounge, room service, everything one could need. I certainly
have no complaint with the service, everyone was friendly and
helpful. The next stay though we'll get a room with a street
view, a king bed and that refrigerator and I could stay awhile,
cause it's mighty comfy here!
