Screamer Coaster &
Nordic Spaceship
Who hasn't heard of Scandia, here in
California? Seems it's been around forever.
I haven't been to one since I was a teen.
We've passed this one in Upland many
times, as the kids looked woefully out the
car window, and finally made a trip here on
a Monday afternoon, figuring it wouldn't be
as crowded as the weekend. We couldn't
have been more right, it was like the park
opened just for us! Sure there wasn't the
hustle and bustle, but who cares, there
weren't any lines either. I especially
couldn't get over how clean this park was,
sparkling! The rides were maintained well
with fresh paint, and attentive landscaping
with lots of newly planted flowers, well
established trees and climbing roses on
their miniature golf course. There were
rides for all ages, from Hagar's Truck
Company where little ones can move slowly
in semi's, where tooting the horn is the
main attraction, to Thor's Hammer where
you'll find yourself rocked back and forth till
you're finally suspended upside down, way
up there! No thanks! My only complaint
was the food. We had asked an employee
what was good to eat here and he said,
"Carl's Jr. across the street." He got that
right! With only two snack bars it's slim
pickin's here. We had their pizza which was
about the worst I've ever had. There
wasn't much else, besides hot dogs, chili
dogs, corn dogs and runny nachos, so I
can't help you there. They offer a variety of
prices, but the best deal is to get a day
pass which gives you unlimited use of all
the rides, including miniature golf, bumper
boats, go cart racers, everything except
the batting cages. Day passes range from
$9.95 for kids under 36", $15.95 under 54",
and $19.95 over 54". It's a great deal!
They even have a small party room, nothing
fancy, but a centralized location for a
birthday. An afternoon here had our kids
excited all the way home, and they can't
wait to go back again.
