Kramer Junction, sounds like something out of an old Western or
horror movie to me. It's really nothing more than a heavily traveled intersection in the middle of nowhere. They don't have to work hard at keeping business here, cause they've got all the business they could want. If you don't eat here than you wont be eating for quite a while. My husband says that they've remodeled in the last 15 years, while I thought it had to be longer than that. He begged to differ explaining that they just don't have good taste. It was smart to pack a lot of booths into the place, as they were all nearly full on a Sunday afternoon, with traveling families, truckers and locals from who knows where. Though the food we ordered didn't live up to any slight hopes I had, the easy going would be pleased. Mozzarella Sticks were the frozen variety served with marinara sauce. Beer Battered Onion Rings hid thin stringy onions inside an overcooked breading. Getting only one shot at this, I asked the waitress for a recommendation. She squirmed, winced and reluctantly said the Roadrunner sandwich seemed to be ordered the most. The menu described it as "...piled high with thinly sliced turkey on grilled parmesan sourdough with jack cheese, bacon & tomatoes." I'm sorry, but the filling in this sandwich was nowhere near "piled high". Nevertheless, after slathering it with a necessary side of mayonnaise it was very edible. The Chicken Gumbo had a good broth, but was mostly rice, carrots and celery, not my kind of soup. Serving breakfast all day, the Pancake Combo was decent. Though the pancakes weren't dry like others, they lacked flavor, needing all that butter and syrup. These came with two eggs and a choice of two sausage links or bacon strips. The lunch menu has a few sandwiches and 11 different burgers as well as Chili in a Bread Bowl. Dinner offers typical home cooking such as Southern Fried Chicken, Country Fried Steak, Rib Eye Steak, Ground Sirloin and USDA Choice Sirloin Steak. Their bakery case was limited with mostly donuts, pastries and cookies. Many of their cookies were bagged up with a sample broken in pieces on a plate next to them. We all sampled the M&M cookie and walked away unaffected, and you know what, I don't think they cared either. What are you gonna do?
