Our room #1118
we dropped off our suitcase and headed for the lounge for a cocktail before
the party. After ordering up a couple of appetizers and getting a good look at
their martini list and restaurant we were sorry to have to leave. The next
morning we were greeted by a friendly voice when ordering room service,
and it was the same cheerful gentleman who brought us our coffee and juice.
We were impressed with our first experience with The Marriott.

Our room #1118 was $119 with taxes and AAA discount.

Booking a room in a nice hotel around the
Christmas holiday, can prove to be a challenge.
Though Riverside has much historical interest
with some beautiful structures, it's not a
tourist area, so choices are minimal, with
accommodations meeting the functional and
monetary needs of mostly businessmen. So I
wasn't expecting much, booking a room here,
that we'd ultimately retire to later, after our
Christmas party just a block away, and the
bargain price didn't do much to sway my
suspicions. Walking into the lobby, though,
upon check-in, our spirits lifted, appreciating
the holiday cheer of poinsettias and garlands of
gold and pine. As we passed the small lounge
and upscale restaurant, Olio's, our anticipation
elevated as we made our way to our room,
ultimately happy with our accommodations.
The colors were warm with golden walls and a
tones of green covering the windows and down
comforter. It was an overcast day, so the view
wasn't boastful by any means, but I was
excited to see the historical district. Hungry,
