we dropped off our suitcase and headed for the lounge for a cocktail before
the party. After ordering up a couple of appetizers and getting a good look at their martini list and restaurant we were sorry to have to leave. The next morning we were greeted by a friendly voice when ordering room service, and it was the same cheerful gentleman who brought us our coffee and juice. We were impressed with our first experience with The Marriott.
Our room #1118 was $119 with taxes and AAA discount.

Booking a room in a nice hotel around the
Christmas holiday, can prove to be a challenge. Though Riverside has much historical interest with some beautiful structures, it's not a tourist area, so choices are minimal, with accommodations meeting the functional and monetary needs of mostly businessmen. So I wasn't expecting much, booking a room here, that we'd ultimately retire to later, after our Christmas party just a block away, and the bargain price didn't do much to sway my suspicions. Walking into the lobby, though, upon check-in, our spirits lifted, appreciating the holiday cheer of poinsettias and garlands of gold and pine. As we passed the small lounge and upscale restaurant, Olio's, our anticipation elevated as we made our way to our room, ultimately happy with our accommodations. The colors were warm with golden walls and a tones of green covering the windows and down comforter. It was an overcast day, so the view wasn't boastful by any means, but I was excited to see the historical district. Hungry, |
