This has been a one of our favorite restaurant to take our kids to. If
you've never been you need to go. I can't think of another restaurant like it. They've brought the rainforest indoors, complete with shooting stars and occasional thunder storms. The nearly real wildlife includes elephants, gorillas, chimpanzees, giant butterflies, even a cheetah. Throughout your meal the animals relaxing and watch the guests, and at other times they get a little noisy and crazy. The first couple of times here the kids were awe struck and even a bit nervous, because the animals are so realistic! Now they love to see the elaborate aquariums, the biggest one is makes a bridge for guests to walk under, quite a different view. The food has always been good, though it's changed a bit since Joe's Crab Shack took over with a much larger selection of seafood items. The Caribe Chicken, always our favorite no longer had that wonderful sweet coconut breading I so loved, but they made up for it, now serving it with a delicious Coconut Curry Sauce. One of my favorite starters is their Tomato & Mozzarella Bruschetta, a chopped Italian tomato mixture reminiscent of salsa, served with buffalo mozzarella and toasted garlic toasts. Their Awesome Appetizer sampler, isn't the usual potato skins and fried zucchini, instead offering Coastal Calamari, Chimi-Cha-Cha Mexican egg rolls, the Caribe Chicken tenders and their delicious Big Blue Crab Delight dip. Their heavenly Paradise Pot Roast is no longer cut into bite size chunks, instead one large slab of tender roast sets atop a generous bowl of mashed potatoes which is surrounded by a dark, rich gravy. It's still good, but I miss the tangled mess of onion ring that use to crown this homey dish. Cyclone Crab Cakes are quite good, topped with two rich sauces, a Spicy Safari Sauce and a Lemon Butter, and equally pleasing is the Nile Shrimp Enbrochette, so hearty and rich with jumbo shrimps stuffed with crabmeat, an undetectable sliver of jalapeno and four cheeses which is finally wrapped in bacon and broiled. These will stuff you good! The kids usually get the Cheese Pizza, with a flatbread crust topped with a chunky fresh tomato sauce and tasty cheese combination. I can't help, but sneak a piece from them! The prices here are kind of high, but warrant the experience. Appetizers range from $5.99 to $10.99, around $9 for sandwiches and entrees up to $19.99 for a 9 ounce center-cut aged filet and market prices for the Main Lobster and Alaskan King Crab Legs. Be sure and visit the Rainforest Cafe gift shop which offers some of their dressings, sauces and plenty of nature oriented novelties, toys and t-shirts. The place is a bit noisy (from the waterfall and the animals), but this makes it so perfect to take the kids!
