Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club
Redondo Beach, California
It was the photos on their website that convinced me to come
here, and the photos didn't lie. It's located at the tip of the
peninsula, and first glance driving up looked magical. This place
was truly wonderful. We planned our office party here and
everything couldn't have been more perfect. We drove in at
sunset and we were awestruck at how stunning it was. Heck the
hotel is on the Thomas Brothers map! Just walking into the lobby
of this place at sunset will take your breath away. Order a drink
right there in the lobby's bar and thank your lucky stars that you
are so fortunate to have found such a wonderful place. When we
entered our room the radio was playing light jazz, there were
chocolates waiting on the bed, a refrigerator with snacks and
drinks, feather pillows, a remote for video games you can order
for $6 per hour, a rain shower, blow dryer and coffee pot. Our
room was quaint with light blue pinstriped walls, a large mirror at
the head of the bed and a nook with table and chairs to read the
morning paper and watch the boats sail off to sea. Their is a gym
and business center with a computer with Internet access, fax
machine and copier, they have it all. All rooms have balconies
with either a harbor view room or an ocean view room. We
stayed in an ocean view room. Dinner at their restaurant Pooch's
was picture perfect between the flickering fire and the sparkle of
the harbor lights, what a way to start the holidays! Pooch's
delivers the same awesome cuisine for room service. As luck
would have it, our second night we discovered that we had the
best place to enjoy the King Harbor's 10th Annual Boat Parade.
We ordered up an extra blanket, a couple of appetizers, opened a
bottle of wine and watched the boats, all decked out in their
Christmas best, really it was too perfect, it brought tears to my
eyes. I've been many a places, but the Portofino Hotel provided
for me a memory I will always treasure.
