This 44-acre tropical resort has
been around since the 1950's. I was here in the early eighties, back then it was Vacation Village. The property is amazing. There are 462 guest rooms spread across this island resort, and most ideal are the bungalows that are settled right on the beach of Mission Bay. There is plenty to do here with two heated swimming pools as well as 3 others, a special lap pool and therapeutic whirlpool, the SpaTerre & Fitness Center with Cybex equipment, a sauna, massage and spa treatments. There is also a 1.3 mile running course, bicycles and quadracycles to rent, a sand volleyball court and croquet lawn, an 18 hole putting golf course and five lighted championship tennis courts with private instruction available. The full-service marina offers sail boat, Hobie cat, kayak, paddleboat, aquacycle and power boat rentals. There are several dining options with room service and three restaurants on the premises: Baleen an upscale seafood restaurant, the Tropics Bar & Grill located poolside and the Barefoot Bar & Grill which is settled alongside a natural habitat filled with some unusual fish including a tiger shark, sand shark and flounders. This restaurant also has live music. Daily scheduled activities offer yoga, Pilates and other fitness classes, "Kids Kamp" and movie nights. Our bungalow was wonderful, located right on the beach. The room was cheerful and the beds comfortable. There was a small refrigerator as well as a coffee pot and hair dryer. The cost for an experience like this is quite steep. Our room #228 had a midweek summer rate of $365 a night. It was the perfect getaway. During the day we went kayaking and sat by the pool, sipping Mai Tai's and eating an amazing Chicken Sate. Watching the sunset from our own private patio was quite a luxury, and later the kids played hide-and- go-seek till nearly midnight, while we never had a worry. Paradise Point is quite the splurge, you can't go wrong here!
