I've been eating here since 1987. Back then I worked across the street
from their Grand Terrace location for two and a half years, eating here
every other day, and never tired of their food. Usually Mexican food
ends up being heavy, greasy and mushy to me, evoking a nap, not here
though. I will start by stating that I have never had better Refried
Beans than here. They are so moist and packed full of flavor. Their
Chile Rellano's are awesome. They fresh roast whole chiles, with the
stems still on, batter them and generously top them with cheese and a
thinned sweet tomato onion sauce that is so light. Another favorite of
ours is the Shredded Beef Taco, again they make the best. The roast is
tender and salted just right. My son nags me to go here for them, at
only nine he was known to eat four of them. Thank goodness they are
only $1.35 a piece. Make sure to order them with tomatoes since they
don't come with them. They also make their Chicken Taquitos fresh
with a great guacamole, it's definitely fresh, but not as thick as others,
which makes it perfect for dipping. I ordered the Pork Chile Verde
Burrito the other day for the first time and was impressed. My husband
and his dad frequented this place for for years, just for their Pork Chile
Verde Plate, boasting that they have the best. The meat was
amazingly tender. My dad ate the rest of my burrito that night and said
it was the best burrito he'd ever had. They have such wonderful food at
cheap prices. It's hard to find a time when their isn't a line though, and
at prime lunch and dinner hours the lines are ridiculous. Be sure and
take home extra of their Chile Rellano's and Pork Chili Verde they heat
up so well the next day.
