I'm always on the hunt for something different
and Merlin's Magic Dinner Show certainly fit the bill. I had imagined much more grandeur than this place had. From the moment we parked in front of The Rib Trader we felt unsure of ourselves. How could this small restaurant house a big show? Once in the door we were greeted with a smile by a friendly man who checked our reservation, and urged us to relax in the lounge until show time. As the noise level in the lounge steadily escalated as show time neared, a boisterous woman finally appeared, dressed in a black cloak and topped with a pointy witch's hat. Without reservation her voice boomed, announcing the show was about to begin and we followed her to a large room. At first I was disappointed to see such primitive surroundings, with the realization that there would be no fire shooting from Merlins magic wand. Even after the show started and the real Merlin began to perform with a slow, almost dry manner I still felt disappointed, but soon I was laughing so hard I was nearly making a spectacle of myself. I love how he incorporated the audience in every part of his show, totally different from something that Medieval Times puts on. Still wenches serve a pre-planned meal that is nearly the same as Medieval Times, but a whole lot better. The show and meal is included in the ticket price, but extras can be ordered. The Adult Meal was $24.95 and came with awesome BBQ Ribs & Chicken, BBQ Beans, Creamy Coleslaw, Honey- Baked Cornbread and soup. The Children's Meal (Children 12 and younger) was $14.95 and came with Golden Fried Chicken Strips, French Fries, Fresh Seasonal Fruit and soup. We ordered a side of great Onion Rings for $4.95 and a Baked Potato for $2.75 and a dinner salad. Though our kids enjoyed coming here, Medieval Times offers more excitement, but for me, I'll take the laughs. This is a great place to take a group of friends and get goofy.
