Lake Havasu "the personal watercraft
capital of the world" has attracted tourists for years. Even with it's scorching heat those who love water play flock here. Unfortunately I am not the typical Havasu tourist. I get antsy floating around for days on the water, I'm not a beer drinker, and the heat doesn't help matters. It's for the "partiers". Me, I've always needed more to convince me to spend any time out here. It's only until the last couple of years that it's become more of a tourist attraction, catering to those like myself who are too sober to forgive a mediocre meal and shoddy accommodations. The London Bridge was a fine addition to the area.
Looking much like a medieval castle it was
designed to make life as easy as possible during a stay. Unlike most places who require boats to be taken out of the water by the days end, this resort allows you to dock your boat overnight for a $30 fee. It seemed a steep price, but made the mornings go smoother. They also have a market inside the hotel, a rarity to see, most everything a convenient store offers; milk, cereal, aspirin, toys, convenient lunch items and booze. Additionally there's tennis courts, 3 swimming pools and a fitness center. There's also two clubs. Kokomo, the areas largest outdoor night club, doesn't serve food and comes to life on the weekends. This club overlooks the lake with a swimming pool below ready for a game of volleyball. The other night club, Martini Bay, opens in the evening for dancing and tapas. Right next door is the English Village with shops and several eateries.
With so many amenities to please it's guests
it was a shame that we had to start our trip off on such a bad note. Upon check in we were upset to find that the room we booked from their website "guaranteeing" us a double king room with a pull-out sofa and a view of the London Bridge was given to someone else. We were given a room without the view and only one king bed. Realizing their error, they noticed several rooms that would come available the next morning which they said they would move us to first thing in the morning. Without any other choice we prolonged unpacking until after the move and waited for the call. When the phone never rang we initiated a call after check-out just to hear they booked all the Bridgeview rooms again without considering us at all. At this point we were fuming, wasting half a day waiting, I left a second message for the manager to call us back about the matter. We couldn't believe that over our four day stay we never got a return phone call from anyone. I parlayed the short |

version of our experience with the reservation clerk at check-out, but
didn't get any more concern from her either. Thank goodness for the power of the pen! I feel better now!
Our room #1004 was nice enough with a demoted view of the tennis
courts. It had a bit of Southwestern flare with nice architecture, a balcony and a full kitchen. As upset as we were over our disappointment we still couldn't deny that the London Bridge Resort is a very nice place, with my husband summing it up perfectly saying, "Where they fail in management, they make up for in design."
Our June weekday rate for room #1004 was $179, but rates vary
depending on the time of the year and how booked they are. With our bad experience, I don't suggest booking your room on-line for this place.
