Lil' Bit Country
Horseback Riding
Lake Elsinore, California
Look for this sign off the highway.
Horseback riding is one of those activities
that can be a bit intimidating. Most of my
experiences have been stressful to
downright painful. Trusting the
temperament of a strange horse is asking
a lot of me, especially when I put my
children on one. They're getting older
now, and I'm allowing them to venture out
a little farther each time from the shield of
my mothering wings. With a spotless
track record here, I felt reassured these
horses would provide our kids a positive
experience. I wasn't particularly looking
forward to riding with them myself since I
was use to running the horses I had rode
in the past, but the hour long trail ride was
diverse. We found ourselves ducking
under branches and feeling a bit of
excitement maneuvering our horses down
rocky narrows. Lil' Bit Of Country also
hosts four day horseback riding camps for
children during the summer months. The
camp starts at 8:00 a.m. on Monday when
kids feed their designated horse.
Throughout the rest of the day they saddle
up their horse, are given daily riding
lessons, brush and clean up after them
and go for a long trail ride at the end of the
day. If your child thinks they want a
horse, this camp will give them a better
idea of the responsibility that is involved.
The four day camp costs $250 per child
which includes their lunches. An hour trail
ride is $25 for people seven years of age
and up, but shorter rides are available.
