This is the ideal setting for weary skiers to recap a day on the
slopes. One large room is all a buzz with tall tales of amazing feats
and close calls. Many belly up to the bar to nurse an injury or
warm their bones while others would rather enjoy the picturesque
view through the floor to ceiling windows that dominates the other
side of the room. It's ideally located in "The Village" where
restaurants and shopping are a gondola ride away from the slopes.
I must admit the restaurant's name left me assuming this was a
place for partiers, completely unapprised that they would have
anything to impress my palate. The menu looked typical bar fare
with potato skins, chili and plenty of burger choices, but the few
things we ordered raised eyebrows. The Clam Chowder and Potato
Soup were so good, and particularly so ordered in a bread bowl.
Both the Spinach Artichoke Dip with large chunks of artichokes and
the Grilled Baja Shrimp with six shrimps placed around the edge of
a martini glass filled with a spicy pureed salsa were served with a
generous amount of tri-colored chips. Both were quite tasty. On
"Two Timing Tuesdays" you get two breakfasts or burgers for the
price of one. I can't attest to the taste of the Low-Carb Burger, but
I'll tell you it was a whole lotta food. There are a variety of entrees
choices such as Pepper Chicken Steak, Chicken Pasta, and BBQ
Ribs, but we hit the jackpot ordering the Baked Halibut. Lightly
sauteed mushrooms and spinach topped a glorious bowl of
mashed potatoes, crowned with a perfectly cooked halibut fillet
which was finished with a sweet Shallot Wine Sauce. This dish was
so homey and left us discussing it again the next day. It was an
unusual Irish Doughnut that put closure to this meal. What an
idea! Two deep fried Twinkies are set on a plate with a scoop of
vanilla ice cream all drizzled in chocolate and strawberry syrup.
Brilliant!
