Flamingo Beach Club

A walk through the pool area at the Flamingo and it's almost
certain you'll be tapped on the shoulder by the alluring smell
of barbecue. There was no fighting it for me, the aroma was
torture. I ate lunch long before normal. Outside the pool side
bar was a double barbecue with two men busily tending to
chicken breasts, shrimp, hot dogs and beef patties. I ordered
a Cheeseburger with extra cheese, while my husband ordered
the shrimp. After much anticipation my burger was handed to
me and the man pointed to another area where I could garnish
my object of desire. I promptly went over to add my
preferences, finding ketchup, mustard and relish, but where
was the mayonnaise? Back to the barbecue grill I inquired,
and silly as it sounds I was nearly devastated to hear that
there was no mayonnaise available, and no hope of getting
any either. Seems the heat adds liability to serving
mayonnaise with the risk of salmonella. So there I stood with
my plain burger, disgusted. During this short period I
developed a bit of an attitude. Feeling defeated I put on my
ketchup, mustard and relish and went back to the BBQ men
asking where I was suppose to get lettuce and tomato. You'd
think for a moment I had nothing else to live for, when they
told me they didn't have that either! Couldn't they have
warned me about these things ahead of time so I could have
ordered something else or come prepared? How many people
actually orders a burger without these staples? My husband's
Skewered Shrimp accompanied by wild rice wasn't much of a
consolation either. I'm not criticizing the base of these great
beginnings, I'm just advising that you might want to come
equipped or informed. Bring your little baggie with lettuce and
tomato and at the very least find some mayonnaise packets,
somewhere, cause they give you an awesome start, but leave
you unequipped to finish the job.

Prices ranged between $5.95 to $6.95 for Skewered Shrimp,
Burgers, Bacon Wrapped Chicken Sandwiches and Hot Dogs
without sides.
