Afternoon Tea at

Afternoon tea, that European custom, is hard to come by here in America, and
what a shame. It's a chance to relax with a cup of tea and treat the palate.
Redlands finally has a place to experience this little luxury.

The Eating Room is quaint with country decor. I warmed myself with a pot of
fruity chamomile tea wrapped in a tea cozy, accompanied by a strainer to
catch the loose leaves while my son delighted in a cup of hot cocoa. A 3-
tiered server was brought to our table which displayed a variety of goodies
from their bakery, which vary from day to day. The top plate had scones with
jelly and Devonshire cream, on the middle held three different kinds of finger
sandwiches; tuna salad on a fruit nut wheat bread, egg salad on a soft white
bread and watercress, cream cheese and cucumber on white bread. On the
bottom of the tier were Mexican wedding cake cookies, mini chocolate cream
puffs and slices of pumpkin bread.

As we enjoyed the offerings the waitress, using here tongs, set a warm slice of
vegetable quiche on our plates. In the end in a cordial glass filled with a rich
custard cream, topped with a delicious homemade orange marmalade made a
scrumptious ending.

This is such a nice way to spend time with a special person. It's really a treat!

Reservations are required. Tea time is $7.95 per person on Thursday, Friday
and Saturday's 3:30-5:30.
