This place is known for it's large portions and their "49er Happy
Hour" is no exception. Their appetizer portions are more than enough for two, but most of their appetizers come garnished with a complimentary salad. The Skewered Jalapeno's were stuffed with cream cheese and came with a chopped Mexican style salad while the Crispy Calamari came with tartar and cocktail sauces and an Italian Style salad. My favorite at Happy Hour is the Cheese Potato Cakes (it's their most popular appetizer). They combine mashed potatoes, parmesan, cheddar and jack cheeses, cilantro, onion and dill, shape into pancakes, fry till crispy, garnish with chives and serve with an Herb Ranch Salsa. Happy Hour price for this one is $3.95! These appetizers are normally more than reasonably priced, but at Happy Hour they take an extra $2 off any appetizer. That makes the rack of Crispy Spare Ribs which are lightly battered and served with a red ginger glaze only $5.95! They also have a Happy Hour menu where you can get smaller portions of selected appetizers for dirt cheap with most under $2.95. All drinks are $1 off during Happy Hour. Happy Hour here is 3:00 to 7:00 weekdays.
