Blue Lantern Inn
Dana Point, California
The Blue Lantern Inn is well known and highly rated,
and we really looked forward to coming here. The
moment we walked in the door we were a bit "let
down" by the zillions of teddy bears everywhere, which
was a bit too childish to inspire romance. The Inn had
an awesome view, overlooking Dana Point Harbor,
which we were disappointed to not have enjoyed, since
our travel agent misinformed us, insuring us our room
would have one. Once inside our room, Ken expressed
how he felt like he was staying at his grandma's
apartment, I could see that. The bathroom was nice
though with a Jacuzzi tub. I thought our room was far
too pricey at $170 a night, but I suppose with breakfast
included and wine and appetizers in the evening it
helped to ease the blow. I strongly suggest if you're
going to stay here, spend the extra money and get a
room with an ocean view. All rooms have fireplaces,
spa tub, coffee maker and small refrigerator which they
will complimentary stock. Breakfast is served buffet
style in the dining room from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. or
they'll deliver you breakfast in bed for a $5 fee, or just
a pot of coffee, just be sure to fill out a card and give it
to the front desk the night before, something else we
didn't know about, but will make a difference in your
stay, glad to help!
