Benihana
Ontario, California
This place use to be so fun and quite appropriate for a
special occasion. I was almost embarrassed to have
chosen this place to celebrate my mother's birthday.
Lacking in the entertainment and elegance as the one
I went to in Orange Country 17 years ago, their
Ontario location almost seemed a bit neglected. I
remember wearing a black dress to dine at Benihana's
way back then and it was befitting. By the looks of the
customers here it's apparent it's not the hype it use to
be. The sushi rolls were the worst I've ever had. We
tried several, one was decent, the Crunchy Roll, while
the others were downright unappealing to me. The stir
fry meal was pleasant enough, minus the salad. I
enjoyed both the Seafood Combo with fresh lobster,
scallops and shrimp and the Teriyaki Steak. They
served both with a delicious combination of grilled
onions, mushrooms and zucchini, which were all very
good. Our tableside chef didn't do much of anything
showy and was actually pretty quiet. The prices
seemed a bit high to me with the Teriyaki around $18
and the Seafood Combo at about $32, why the high
prices? This Benihana location isn't worth the
experience anymore.
