This is a cute, low key amusement park. Located right
next to Hobby City which was built in 1955, Adventure
City opened in 1994 and caters to children from 2 to 12.
There are magic shows, puppet shows or sing-along
shows every hour. The petting zoo lets kids pet and
feed animals such as rabbits, goats, sheep, and
chickens. I thought the gingerbread house was unique
where for $1.50 the kids get to decorate their own
gingerbread man then eat him up! There is also the
Adventure Mountain rock climber that costs an extra
$3, but once at the top they push a button that sounds
the sirens to prove they made it! While up there
they've snapped their picture and for $5 they have a
cool souvenir to remember their daring adventure!
Adventure City has 10 rides from the "Crank-n-Roll"
self powered paddle trains to a roller coaster that was
a little too intimidating for my 9 year old. They also
have the original train that was built in 1938 and was
the main attraction at Hobby City for 25 years and is
now one of the rides here. There is a small arcade and
also a snack bar that offers hot dogs, mini pizza's
(which they make fresh daily), nachos, a couple of
sandwiches and salads to choose from as well as snack
foods. The cost of admission here is $10 per person
and the rides are unlimited. I thought it was nice that
we went on a Saturday and didn't have to wait in any
lines. The park is open in the winter months from
Friday 10:00-5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from
11:00-7:00 p.m. and generally open daily in the
summer months from 10:00-10:00 p.m.
