I'd read about this tour of the Golden Gate
Bridge while searching the web. It sounded
scenic and romantic. Their site shows
white linen draped tables with a variety of
chaffing dishes harboring "light appetizers"
to nibble on with the couple of drinks they
allot each guest during this one and a half
hour cruise. The $35 per person (kids get
no break) seemed steep, but it looked
pretty upscale. We boarded the boat at
precisely 6:00 p.m. ready for an adventure.
I was surprised to see the "light
appetizers" were truly light, offering a bowl

of Chex mix, salsa, chips and a hollowed out round of bread filled with
spinach dip. Oh well, I figured I'd just get a cocktail with my drink ticket
and enjoy the ride. The cocktail I'd anticipated was a choice of beer, wine
or soda. Our captain, Hans didn't add much to the experience, giving us a
quick bit of FYI about his 55' Catamaran, where the bathroom was, what
not to do and welcoming anyone to steer the boat on our way back. The
ride was peaceful especially out on the trampoline, but a bit chilly, taking a
detour around Alcatraz on our way to the Golden Gate. It was a straight
shot back while the sun started to set. I enjoyed the peaceful ride with
background noise from the radio, but I also missed the history that a tour
guide could offer of the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay and Alcatraz. Don't
get me wrong I enjoyed the ride, I guess I just expected a little more.

There is a $5 per ticket savings ordering them over the internet. Children
under 5 years of age can ride for free in an adults lap. Reservations are
required. Departure times change throughout the year. Be sure to bring a
jacket or even a blanket.
